Precast and Prestressed Compound Walls
Construction is the second largest economic activity in our country next to agriculture. PSPC or prefabricated construction concept includes those boundary wall (compounds/buildings) where the majority of structural components are standardized and produced in the plants at a location nearer or away from the construction site and transported to the site location for assemble or erection which considerably saves the time of construction where as in conventional, block work and curing consume much time to complete
When your customers think precast, we want them to think ease and efficiency. Our products arrive at the jobsite ready to install, saving time and labor costs. Precast concrete is created by casting concrete in a reusable mold which is then cured in a controlled environment, brought to the construction site, and put in place.
Precast is used within both exterior and interior walls. By making precast concrete in a controlled environment (typically a precast plant), the precast concrete is allowed to cure and be closely monitored by plant employees properly. Using a precast concrete system has many possible advantages over onsite casting. Precast concrete manufacturing can be done on ground level, which helps create a safer environment. A precast plant allows for greater control over material quality compared to a construction site. The molds used in a precast plant can be reused hundreds of times before they must be replaced, making it cheaper than onsite casting when looking at the cost per unit of form-work.
PSPC construction is effective in terms of time, labors requirement, superior quality, better performance and finishing, optional material requirement, less wastage, reduce use of shuttering, desire shape, better finishing etc. It will speed up the process and contributes towards mitigating delay in large scale construction projects. This leads to economy when compared to conventional method of construction in many countries.
Prestress-precast construction method is purely based on shear wall concept and hence the typical floor doesn’t contain any type of columns but in conventional, columns are must to construct.
Block work is limited to only 1 to 1.2m height per day to maintain proper alignment whereas; PSPC elements do not have such restrictions. In conventional method, block works must proceed future with proper curing and also plastering require curing period for sufficient hydration and to attain strength: but in PSPC method, no such intense curing required because the main and final curing done at casting plant only to achieve maximum strength.
Plastering work is mandate in conventional whereas in PSPC method doesn’t have any kind of plastering work. PSPC construction system requires almost half the number of total man power that required for conventional system.
Construction activities take place at the faster rate in PSPC compared to conventional system. PSPC construction best suitable for large construction projects, where as conventional system lead to various problems and consumes huge time for completion.
Prestressed concrete is substantially “prestressed”( compressed) during production, in a manner that strengthens it against tensile forces which will exist when in service. It is made by applying tension to the steel re-bar during the curing process. Prestress concrete is achieved by casting concrete into pre-assembled forms in combination with re-bar and steel cable reinforcement. These cables are tensioned to approximately three-quarters of their ultimate strength. Once the concrete cured to its required strength, the tension is release. The steel cables reacting to the release. Transfers the tensile stresses into the concrete, rendering an even stronger structural component.
The main purpose to having prestress concrete is to increase the load that the members can withstand. This is most common in long span beams found on bridges and railways viaducts slabs and concrete piles.

It is made up of HIGH-Quality dense concrete of high strength
The high tensile steel used in prestressing has higher strength than the ordinary reinforcing steel, with lesser section area.
High tension steel is approximately 4.5 times stronger than ordinary steel.
High tensile steel is 2.5 to 3.5 times costlier than mild steel
Less subject to shrinkage and cracks
Higher modulus of elasticity and smaller creep strain
